Local publication, the Bearsden & Milngavie Community Magazine reported in January 2017 on ACT’s sponsorship of two Scotland Senior Women Squad players, Kareena “Kaz” Cuthbert and Robyn Collins.

ACT managing director Ken Godsman, who lives with his family in Bearsden, told the magazine: “I’ve been involved in Scottish cricket for many years and my home side is in Greenock. Kaz is also from Greenock and I’ve seen her grow to become a seasoned high performance international athlete.

“I know it is difficult for hockey players to attract sponsorship and I am happy to be supporting Kaz and Robyn, who are very deserving and dedicated athletes.”

Kaz, 29, boasts an impressive player CV with more than 100 caps and many highlight achievements in hockey, including being part of the winning 2011 European Trophy team and sixth in the European Championships 2015, during which she was scored a goal against England.

She has played in the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi but was forced to miss out on Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games due to injury. The centre defender is also coach and manager of the successful Western Wildcats, based in Milngavie.

Robyn, 24, won a silver medal at the Home Nations in 2010 and in 2013 was selected for Team GB at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

Kaz says the ACT sponsorship comes at the perfect time for both her and Robyn. She told the magazine: “The Scotland squad are focusing on some big competitions including the World Cup qualifiers, the European Champs later this year and the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018.

“We need to take a lot of time off work for training, travel and competitions and the financial support is invaluable in allowing us to pursue our sport. We are very grateful to Ken and to ACT.”
