ACT will be keeping track of the action as our sponsored hockey players Kareena “Kaz” Cuthbert and Robyn Collins take part in the Rabo EuroHockey Championships 2017 in The Netherlands this weekend.

The ladies are part of an 18-strong Scotland team that is picked from a squad pool of 30.

Scotland has been drawn in Pool B and will play Germany on Saturday, August 19; Ireland on Sunday and England on Tuesday. They will also play on August 24 and 26.

The team will be keen to extend a recent winning streak for the EuroHockey Champs. The squad won all three matches against France and scored 12 goals in a rest competition held in Glasgow.

Kaz, who is also a player coach with the Western Wildcats in Milngavie,  revealed she is very excited about the EuroHockey Champs.

She said: “It’s one of the biggest tournaments we go to – and it will be great to be playing against some of the top teams in the world.”

But Kaz is predicting some tough matches. She said: “Scotland is a small country and it’s a tough pool to be picked in. We’ve played all these teams recently and it’s always been very tight games so if we go and do what we can do then we can get some good results.”

Gordon Shepherd, Scotland women’s head coach, reports that the team selection for the tournament was difficult. He said: On the back of three wins over France our decisions were made difficult, but I feel we have a squad that can achieve our goals. The squad is full of young, exciting players balanced with some very experienced players.”

Ken Godsman, managing director of ACT Construction (UK) Ltd, said: “It’s great to see both of our sponsored players heading off to The Netherlands. It will be exciting to see them competing in the major championships.”
